Thousands of free books online

Post: # 5667Post shezmear »

One of the things to spirituality is to develop the mind, what I find helpful with this is getting exposure to other bits of information.

There is a website called http://www.promo.net/pg/ that has tens of thousands of free books on it available for free download, such as the works of Plato ect.

I’m currently read, “The world war and what was behind it”, which is just fascinating.

Go to http://www.nextup.com/TextAloud/ and download textaloud, this is a free trial version, this peace of software that will read the whole book to you, and it sounds o.k., you can adjust the speed volume and timing till you like it.

You can download your book, and have it read to you, and yes you can do the same with TP and TFOC and well.

This way you have like a whole library of Audio books at your disposal to reflect upon and consider.

Example, Plato is mentioned in TP as a great writer, it was not until recently that I was sitting at a friend’s house that I read some of his work that I was moved to laughter by his shear brilliance and mastery of language and insight.

Project Gutenberg is very valuable, because you can find and read books that you'd never do otherwise.

I vote for Plato :). Exceedingly cool stuff, logical thinking and clarity of thought, although as Thao said in the book, there is too much stylistic embellishment. But that is a small price to pay for his wisdom.

Since 2004 we have this available in the tiny forum library:

Do you REALLY practice meditation? If your REALLY do, do you practice a GOOD method? Are you sure this is REALLY so?
