Great Songs and Film Clips

Silent Hill the movie is based on a video game. I think it is the best movie of those based on the video games but I wouldn't call this movie "good" in general. Actually I like that game a lot, I think the second game in the series is WAY more intelligent than this movie. But most people would find it way too disturbing so I wouldn't recommend it. It deals with psychological aspects like inner fears and it really is scary.
I always felt that David Lynch could be the only one who could make this movie right, but I don't think he is interested in bringing video games to big screen.

Silent hill is a very deep dive in the current undertanding of many faiths regarding the universe. Gore, horror and game concept aside, you'll see that the movie is intended to show how true love is meant from the beginning as a tool to overcome everything else in the end, and that's just a way big step above the other gore/horror movies out there.
In the movie you will see, how a group of fanatics are trapped in an alternate reality (some form of parallel universe or something) where their own faith to their religion brings them horrific nightmares. In the end The love of a mother for her daughter, sheds light upon the whole picture and ultimately helps freeing the souls of those trapped in their own illusions.

It's nice to see some one pays attention. But If you look at the story line(on the games) between 1,3 and Origins(maybe even 5 not sure yet) I think you will find the story, theme, etc. are just as intelligent as part 2. I've noticed some of the same messages and symbolism that Robanan mentioned was in the movie.... I don't want to go as far as saying part2 is over-rated. I just think the other ones in the series are often overlooked.Robanan wrote:Silent hill is a very deep dive in the current undertanding of many faiths regarding the universe. But anyways...do Threads always digress on the golden planet forums? I mean this is related to the topic...but not directly related to listing movies, music, art, that inspires people spiritually and what not.
I'm really interested in other kinds of "spiritual" music, films, etc that I'm not aware of.

AaronNZM, I assume you were talking to me about SH games here.. I played parts 1-4 and I enjoyed all of them really (I thought 4 was the weakest one though), it is just that 2nd one impressed me the most. Maybe because it reminded me of David Lynch movies, and since he is my favorite director..
But back to movies..
I'm not sure what movies other people see as "spiritual", cause to me any sincerely made movie would be that, regardless of it's theme.
I'll just list SOME of the movies I like then, to do my part in bringing this thread back to it's former shape.
"Mulholland Drive" , "Inland Empire" , "The Straight Story" , "Lost Highway" , "Eraserhead" , "Blue Velvet" - by David Lynch
"Bringing out the dead" , "Taxi Driver" - by Martin Scorcese
"Dead Man" , "The Ghost Dog - The Way of The Samurai" - by Jim Jarmusch
"The Fisher King" , "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" , "Brazil" , "Twelve Monkeys" , "Tideland" - by Terry Gilliam
"Barton Fink" , "The Man Who Wasn't There" , "The Hudsucker Proxy", "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" , "Raising Arisona" , "The Big Lebowski" - by Coen brothers.
"Waking Life" , "A Scanner Darkly" , "Fast Food Nation" - By Richard Linklater
"Pi" , "Requiem For A Dream" , "The Fountain" - by Darren Aronofsky
"Office Space" , "Idiocracy" - by Mike Judge
"JFK" - by Oliver Stone
"Revolver" - by Guy Ritchie
"Eyes Wide Shut" , "Dr. Strangelove" , "A Clockwork Orange" , "Full Metal Jacket" - by Stanley Kubrick
and last but definitely not the least..
"Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" - by Ki-duk Kim (something tells me that most of the people on this forum could love it, and would call a "spiritual movie")
P.S. I know some of the movies on my list are mentioned here before, but I really wanted to bring them up again.
*EDIT*
P.P.S. the last one was my recommendation to everybody on this forum who have not seen it yet.

I saw this on big screen. After 15 mins viewing, the movie stopped with an announcement offering refund for those who leave the theatre within 10 mins. More than half of the people walked out. I decided to stay and glad I did. Don't know if I can handle watching it now though.
Scanner Darkly - Fell asleep.
Waking Life – Loved it. Not sure about CGI though.
Thanks for sharing everyone. I always love a good movie.

Yes I have seen this movie, it`s actually based on some experiments that "may" have actually taken place, a good but scary film...Teda wrote:Jacob's Ladder

Re: Great Songs and Film Clips
Here are several other movies I think are enjoyable and have a few things to teach...
Deadly Drifter, Five People You Meet in Heaven, What Dreams May Come, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and although it's heavily doused in Conspiracy Theories which only superficially touches the surface of the current reality of our civilization Kymatica which I've already mentioned on this forum is worth as much of a watch as any of these movies.
As for music I've been finding myself enjoying instrumentals quite a bit since there are no vocals that use NLP to get the songs stuck in my head. Check this composer out and let me know what you think...

My apologies for the unintended double post but I just recently watched Brainstorm.
I think it's another movie worth mentioning here...check out the trailer if you like.

this guitarist is amazing, I heard about him from Frank Gambale's blog, a classical guitarist named Aniello Desiderio:
