Ancient Texts: Mu and Atlantis

Post: # 73Post Bastian »

This guy has mistaken Mu (Lumuria) for Atlantis, still it is interesting. I would like to have a more precise knowledge of which texts and what chapters are said to talk about Mu and Atlantis.

"In March of 2001, I was reading a summary of an ancient and sacred epic poem of India called, ‘Mahabharata’ on Internet. I was absolutely stunned, as I remembered that I had read the same story in Bible as well! Moreover when I read ‘Timaeus’ and ‘Critias’, two dialogues about lost continent of Atlantis by an ancient and famous Greek philosopher Plato, I was simply wonderstruck by remembering same story of Atlantis in Mahabharata and Bible! After finding same story of Atlantis at three very different and unrelated places, I had discovered the Rosetta stone of Atlantis!

Mystery of the lost continent of Atlantis is finally solved! Ocean which we call Atlantic was named thus just a few centuries ago, however Greeks used to call all seas of the world Atlantic. Once we realize this we discover that location of Atlantis matches 100% with present day Indonesia in South China Sea. It was believed that narration of Atlantis only exists in dialogues of Plato, however my research has revealed that accounts of Atlantis also exist in Sumerian, Indian and other histories as well. Surprise is that the narration of Atlantis also exists in Old Testament! This book provides a complete solution to lost continent of Atlantis mystery. "

This person is completely mistaken. Can anyone confirm any bit of the fact that all seas were called Atlantic? This is very incorrect!

I won't write details in this first post of mine here, but I am surprised that so many people are so sure that they have 100% discovered Atlantis elsewhere but in the Atlantic ocean, without even reading the original Timaeus and Critias.

Several days ago, on April 30, there was a discussion on Slashdot:
http://science.slashdot.org/science/04/ ... 162&tid=99

Discussions on Slashdot are valuable because of the so-called Slashdot effect - so many people all over the world posting and visiting sites to the point of exhausting the sites' bandwidth - that such a discussion virtually represents a global survey of the current people's knowledge of the matter.
I would urge you to read all the posts. We can discuss it all in the following months. Most people who posted were completely ignorant of Plato's actual writings, but I did clear a few inconsistencies in my own thinking thanks to the few knowledgeable and thoughtful posts.
I'll probably archive the discussion.
I have also an archived discussion called "Did Atlantis Exist?" on sciforums.com that is good to read, too.
