Tom's approach to the question Creation or Evolution (as in his own words) is this:

Anyone who confronts Creation (Intelligent Design) with Evolution gives evidence that he/she has no idea whatsoever about either.

Evolution is not any "theory". Evolution is an Observable Fact. The most important feature of the Evolution is that it occurs in Consciousness. Appearances and functionality arise as a result of conscious needs.

This Universe is a result of Evolution of Consciousness of Great Intellect - its Designer. The Big Bang has been specifically designed to facilitate and inspire the Evolution of Consciousness - of Great Intellect itself and everyone else in the Universe.

As you can see, when you expand the context of your considerations, there is no conflict between Evolution and Creation. In fact, creativity can only arise when Consciousness becomes sufficiently evolved... [Tom]

Disregarding things such as evolution, development, progress and the likes for a moment (for the sake of not getting into the details of each individual [conscious/intelligent] being in question), Given that the properties of consciousness/intellect are the same within each and every conscious and intelligent being (some beings either totally miss some defaults, and relatively speaking -others may have the same defaults less developed) , then we can clearly see that Tom's approach to what he aims to discuss in his book is to have those questions appeal to the reader's counciousness and intelligence first before examining the subject in depth, just to raise the natural curiosity of "any" reader by making complex matters seem close and "explorable". My view is that it is too early in the book to question his logic even though he says it all with just two questions.

The thing is that if you truly want to see the logic of his reasoning behind those two questions (as discussed in this topic) you got to take the properties of intellect and consciousness into consideration, without it... one would simply miss the point as this topic shows. Why? because intellectual properties are observable facts as Tom later explains in his book. Closing your eyes and saying we haven't observed something so it can't be, is irresponsible at best and doesn't sound logical at all.

My view is that the link between complexity and creation is intelligence aided by the most basic property of consciousness which is the capability to evolute.
